Maybe the word work isn’t the most appropriate term for it. A job, maybe?

In about two weeks, I’ll be graduating from a university at the age of 20. It’s quite early compared to other countries but that’s what makes the Philippines different.

It’s been two weeks since I submitted my resume to different IT companies and I’ve already been interviewed for two. It’s quite interesting to actually know what the difference is with working out in the industry and studying terminologies and theories in school.

At first, I wasn’t totally psyched to start looking for a job because I really wanted to travel and spend time having fun first. However, that proved to be quite difficult when you don’t have your own savings and you have a very traditional father who’s waiting for you to take over the business.

Contrary to what I was feeling before I started applying for work, I now feel that it could be quite fun to start working. Though I doubt getting tons of workload and being stuck in an office for 8 hours a day would be always fun.

What I think would be fun about work is the process of learning new things, being able to see the reality of work, meeting new people and of course, facing the challenges of being more independent. Work gives us opportunities. Work gives us a bit of freedom and a sense of responsibility.

Well, that’s the optimistic side of me anyway.
